About
About retlivo
RetLivo does exactly one job: works out profit margin, markup and selling price from a cost and a target margin, reporting gross and net figures as it goes. That is the whole of the site. No account, no newsletter, and no wall between you and the number you came for.
Why we built this
Search for personal-finance tools and you will mostly find pages that bury a single calculation under cookie walls, newsletter modals and three paragraphs of filler. We built RetLivo as the opposite: one focused tool that works out profit margin, markup and selling price from a cost and a target margin, reporting gross and net figures as it goes, and nothing between you and the answer. Keeping it that narrow is what makes it fast, and what makes it honest about how the result is produced.
How the maths is done
There is no server in the loop at all. It divides profit by revenue for a margin and by cost for a markup — the two are easily confused, and showing both together is what stops a price being set from the wrong one, and that description is the real algorithm rather than a simplification of it, so you can repeat the sum by hand and compare the two.
Your data stays here
This is a local tool by construction. Your cost, price and desired margin never leave your device; there is no endpoint to receive them and no log to read them back from. Disconnecting from the internet after the page loads changes nothing about how it behaves.
Who this is for
- people planning a budget or a payoff.
- anyone comparing two financial options.
- readers who want the maths shown, not just a number.
Keeping the lights on
RetLivo costs nothing to use, and the hosting is paid for by advertising. That advertising is kept separate from the calculation: it cannot see what you type and it has no influence on the result.

Tell us through the contact page if you find a bug or want something added. The profit margin calculator improves mainly on the strength of what users report.
